This week we chose our interview with Linda del Rio, the designer behind del Rio LONDON.
With temperatures rising and the sunshine returning to London it is the perfect time to think about summer-footwear. del Rio London should be on top of our list for the summer.
How often do you find stylish sandals that combine luxury and environmental awareness. Your feet will look effortlessly cool in these comfortable, handmade leather sandals with pyton, snake or crocodile prints, while the environmentally aware mind concerned about global warming can relax. The soles of the sandals are made from recycled tyres and for every pair sold a tree is planted!
We hope you enjoyed the interview! x

Last Thursday saw the doors of Wolf & Badger stay open late for a private launch event for one of our Jewellery designer Roberto Angeletti.
The designer, who is based in Italy, showcased pieces from his collection with the help of some designs from ceramics artist Laure Amforta.
Angeletti is an Italian jewellery brand founded in 1940 in one of Rome’s most exclusive shopping streets. Roberto, the third generation of jewellery designers has now expanded the business to include his own jewellery line. The philosophy of the brand is based on combining traditional methods of craftsmanship with innovative designs. The result is unique pieces that meet the needs of the modern consumer without sacrificing any of the ancient craft.
The event brought in a mix of stylists, bloggers and customers from the local area who enjoyed the early evening sunshine, helped along with Pimm’s provided by the lovely staff at the Lonsdale Bar.
See more images from the event on Facebook.

One of the very interesting aspects of working at Wolf & Badger, is the close contact to the designers. It is exciting to see who the people behind the creations are, why they took the directions they were taking and what inspires them?
We are trying to transfer this insight and to enable you, our customers, a similar experience. We have quarterly parties where we introduce our new designers and provide the chance to meet a lot of them. We are organising weekly trunk shows in our boutique, which gives you the opportunity to meet the designer and enjoy a special programme, that the designers have planned for you. Last but not least we have introduced the designer interviews on our blog.
This week’s interview with Gozi, from U.Mi-1, addressed different levels of inspiration. From the question of who and what inspires her, to showing us what influenced her collections, to being inspiring (to our mind) with her attitude towards work life and her charity work for Live!U.Mi-1, the non-profit part of her label.
We really enjoyed thinking about those different levels of inspiration and decided to dedicate this week’s weekend plans to this subject.
Of course inspiration is a highly subjective matter, so we are opting for some common ideas, that often work:
Art
Living in London is a blessing when it comes to art. There is not a single day without an opportunity to enjoy museums, exhibitions, performances, etc.
One exhibition that caught my eye this week is Happy Land at Jackson Lane.
London-based artist and illustrator Marie-Louise Plum shows her vast collection of of 3D objects masks, appropriated images, pen and ink portraits and customised museum boxes stuffed full of psychedelic toys as part of the Postcard Festival. Be prepared to meet brain-eating slug-men, jolly headless ballerinas and a schizophrenic jamboree of clown folk.
I have always loved fairytales since the first time my dad started reading them to me. To me it’s just another way to explain and structure the world around us and I often find it amusing to being in situations or meeting people that might as well could have been the inspiration for some stories or characters.
Music
I don’t think that it makes sense to even try to list all the artists, I personally find inspiring. I love music and love the power of music to influence your mood and take you away into another world.
If you would like some inspiration for new music, you can on the one hand have a sneak peak on what we are listening to at Wolf & Badger by reading our music monday on the blog.
On the other hand I would suggest going to a festival. One of the best ways of discovering new artists. Why not try The 1-2-3 Shoreditch this weekend?
Films
Combine watching a film with a new experience and create a double inspiration.
This summer we certainly don’t want to miss the Rooftop Film Club at the Queen of Hoxton. From June to September, when the sun goes down, the queen’s roof garden will be hosting the film club, showing classic, cult and recent films. Watch your favourite film while eating food from their BBQ and enjoy a cold drink.
Another excting new venue for watching films (and other events) is the Floating Cinema.
The Floating Cinema invites you on board while it navigates the waterways that connect the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Waltham Forest and Hackney.
This extraordinary customised narrow boat hosts a varied and vibrant programme of free on-board screenings, quirky canal tours, talks and workshops.
People
Meeting new, interesting people is one of my favourite inspirations, as it is so random and arbitrary. By the sounds of the interview one to meet is Gozi.
If you would like to meet her, don’t miss the U.Mi-1 trunk show on Saturday, 9th July, from 12-6pm in our boutique, where fashion will meet art. More details here.
That’s it from us! Have a nice weekend.
We would love to hear what inspires you!

This time we’ve interviewed Gozi, the designer of U.Mi-1. Our boutique features her modern menswear collection. The main aesthetic of the line is created by combining sophisticated tailoring with casual styles and fabrics. It often features art by a collaborating Japanese artist, incorporating elements of their work into the design.
In our interview with her you will get an insight in her work life and inspirations. We especially love that she gave us some images, which show her collection directly next to one of her influences.
Happy reading x
David Hockney and the U.Mi-1 “Dandy Collection”.
Cartier and the U.Mi-1 “Welcome Collection”.
Picasso and the U.Mi-1 “Repatriation Collection”.
If you would like to see U.Mi-1 collection and would like to meet Gozi personally, don’t miss her trunk show on Saturday, 9th July in our boutique!

We have to admit, when the weather is as nice and summery as it currently is, being inside and working behind a screen or counter is certainly less pleasant than usually.
Therefore it is even more important to us that our playlist is filled with music reminding us of the good time to come with festivals, picnics, barbecues and long, long, warm summer nights.
One of our favourites at the moment, which ticks all the boxes, is Oh Land‘s self titled album Oh Land.
We especially love the song “White Nights”, which makes us dream of Scandinavian midsummer nights. Of course the song works incredible well for late London nights too.
Enjoy x

With a lot of work on our plates our weekend plans are unusually lopsided. This weekend is necessary for catching up with outstanding work.
And oh boy, a tough job it is…
Saturday sees us scouting new designers! What better place to have a look for the freshest new design talent then at New Designers.
The first part of the exhibition (29th June to 2nd July) shows the best work from Graduates in Textiles, Fashion & Accessories, Contemporary Applied Arts, Ceramics & Glass and Jewellery & Precious Metalwork. So tomorrow you will definitely see us with our critical scouting hat on.
Furthermore we will seize the opportunity and make graduates and tutors aware of our Graduate Design Awards. A chance not to be missed and maybe a stepping stone into a successful career.
Saturday sees us also as curious guests at Violet Darkling’s exclusive private preview of their new collection.
We are already very excited to see the new collection and are looking forward to be spoiled with a brunch and cocktails.
Last but not least we will pop down to the boutique and enjoy the trunk show of Saskia B by Natasha Banham.
After the great success of her last trunk show we are very excited to see her again.
This time she has organized an exclusive Summer Preview Sale.
Not only will Natasha spoil you with discounts on her stylish jewellery and give you a consultation, but of course she has organised some more treats.
Enjoy Natasha’s great host qualities and let her treat you to champagne, live music and a free raffle!
After this full but very fun day, we are looking forward to a relaxing Sunday. Sleeping in, late breakfast, and strictly no programme …
Ok. We might be lying here… We might try to join one more show that fits our craving for a relaxed time and sounds too good to be missed.
In collaboration with the Barbican Duckie created the show Lullaby and transformed the pit into a tranquil communal bedroom for an audience of dreamers.
“Lullaby by Duckie is a gentle, slumber show designed to send you to sleep. Bring your pyjamas and toothbrush and pile up the zzz’s at this romantic rock-a-bye nocturne. Book a single, a double or a triple bed and sleep with us on a summer night in the city. Enjoy your reveries as sister songstresses H. Plewis, Harriet Plewis and domestic dreamers Matthew Robins and Tim Spooner create a nod-off narrative of soothing storytelling and choral cradle song.”
After seven hours of slow-wave sleep the show finishes with breakfast.
Pancakes with nutella and banana please!
Have a nice weekend x
