After watching Beyonce’s interactive, and pretty awesome performance at the Billboards last week we have been thinking about the meeting of art, design and digital media, how these things have not only become interconnected but also how they have become a part of mainstream culture. Music, and music videos in particular, are becoming far more design and fashion conscious and often feature pieces from emerging, cutting edge designers, much like the designers in our boutique!
So we have looked to this notion to inspire our weekend plans.
Starting our cultural weekend, tonight, the V&A will be hosting a late night event and will be staying open until 10.30. The evening is part of their current Yohji Yamamoto exhibition. The evening is completely interactive and encourages visitors to get involved. It features activities such as a screen-printing workshop, installations, talks, live music, and, of course, a bar.
Today also sees the opening of a new sculpture exhibition at The Saatchi Gallery called The Shape of Things. It is the first time the gallery has held an exhibition celebrating all things 3 dimensional; it features the work of 20 diverse and international artists.
The weekly Trunk Shows at Wolf & Badger have become a really good platform for our new designers to showcase their work, and this week is no exception. One of our newest brands, LaBante will be showing some limited edition Jewellery from their gorgeous collection, there will also be bubbly and a chance to win a necklace worth £200! To make things even better, 10% of all her sales of the day will be donated to charity!
Running all over the weekend is Clerkenwell Design Week which is a showcase of cutting edge design from some of the biggest names in the industry. With over 150 events including pop exhibitions, live music and workshops it is set to be a feast for the senses, and there is plenty of things to get involved.
One of the highlights is Lulu Guinness’s installation called Be a Pin Up, it is a life sized pin art creation inspired by one of her iconic Lips clutch bags. The installation is interactive and visitors are able to make their own full body sized portraits. The best one wins a Lulu Guinness clutch bag.
Have a lovely long weekend,
X Wolf & Badger
You can’t believe how excited we were in the office when a short teaser for Bon Iver’s upcoming second album popped up on Bon Iver’s homepage!
Luckily they felt sympathy for the legion of waiting fans and abbreviate the waiting time with the first song of the new album:
The self-titled album Bon Iver is officially released June 21st 2011 and a number of concerts were announced on his homepage.
Better hurry, London sold out during the pre-sale!

This blog post could start with the famous stock phrase from childhood fairy tales, ‘Once upon a time’ and go on to paint the scene of a balmy summer night at a street-side fete, filled with ladies in summer dresses and men in suits and bow-ties, drinking magical concoctions and eating Italian gelato.
The truth is though, that this little fable was more of a reality at Wolf & Badgers Spring Fete, held last night at our boutique in Notting Hill, to welcome all our new designer who joined Wolf & Badger in May.
Designers, editors, writers and the fashion forward alike, gathered to celebrate our newest designers.
In traditional Spring Fete style, guests were entertained with games of ‘Pin the tale of the Wolf’ and raffle. Womenswear designer Christopher Waller and Esquire Man of Style of the Year, Ross Hancock, were the lucky winners of Capulet London’s designer iPad cases.
For the rest of us, Pimms and Peroni flowed freely, thanks to the ever- impressive Londsdale team, and there was Vitamin Water and delicious Dri Dri Ice-cream to your hearts delight.
With this we welcome all new designers to the Wolf & Badger, thank everyone who attended for a magical time and hope to see you all next time.
PS: Have a look at all pictures of the night on our Facebook!

If, like us, you want to show off your sunglasses straight away then, you should head down to the new pop up Chowpatty Beach Bar on the Southbank. Part of the festival of Britain celebrations taking place this summer, this pop up street food café has been erected by the artificial beach which will be there for the duration of the summer. It has been created from recycled materials; the bar for instance is made from old plastic bottles. It offers Indian street food a range of drinks and there is a DJ all day – who apparently has been asked to recreate the feeling of an acid trip on Chowpatty Beach in Bombay in 1965!
Staying outside in the sunshine but moving continents, from India to China, we will be heading over the bridge to check out the sculpture exhibition in the courtyard of Somerset House. It features sculptures from artist and political activist Ai Weiwei, who is currently being detained by the Chinese authorities. The exhibition features 12 large scale bronze animal heads which are re-creations of the traditional Chinese zodiac sculptures which were part of an 18th century imperial retreat in Beijing. The installation is part of an international tour and is in London until the 26th June.
We have heard some rumours that the weather might not hold out all weekend, if that is the case you might want to swap your sunglasses for 3D glasses and check out acclaimed film Pina, before it closes in London on Monday. The film is a feature length dance film in 3D about Pina Bausch, the legendary German choreographer who died in 2009. The film describes itself as a sensual and visually stunning journey.
So come rain or shine, we hope you a have lovely weekend! Xx
Did someone say something about Pimms, beer and Dri Dri gelato…?

The royal wedding fever might slowly but surely die down and there are just so many conversations to be had about Kate’s fabulous dress, but that doesn’t mean that our office topics finally drift away from weddings.
After discussing the bride’s dress, who do you then turn to… the guests’ outfits!
With several summer weddings to be attended and one of our team even having the pleasure of being the maid of honour, you can imagine theimportance this topic has on our priority list.
Of course no one wants to outshine the bride, but you still want to look good!
Inspired by Vogue’s wedding issue we started going through the images of celebrity guests at weddings. If people who are used to making public appearances and who have a team of stylists around them, wear it, it can’t be all wrong.
Our two favourite stylings for summer weddings are:
1. Fully embrace the romantic atmosphere of the occasion. Ruffles, layers, pale colours from peach to rose -as seen on Nicolette Sherridan (Desperate Housewives) at the wedding of her co-star Eva Longoria.
If we were to go for this option with our Wolf & Badger resources, we would certainly pick the queen of romantic ruffles: Sia Dimitriadi.
Shop Sia Dimitriadi’s dresses online or in our boutique in Notting Hill.
2. Keep it casual. Just because the bride is wearing a dress, you don’t have to. Kate Moss demonstrated this impressively at the wedding of Bobby Gillespie and stylist Katy England.
Luckily we see this summer the return of crisp tailored summer suits. We were surprised when we realised that Jasper Garvida’s suit has a remarkable similarity to Kate’s
Our second choice would be Irwin & Jordan’s suit. Don’t frown upon the colour. We know that wearing white as the wedding guest is accepted the latest since Pippa Middleton was Kate’s bridesmaid…
If you are looking for more inspiration for your perfect wedding guest dress or simply like the style of Sia Dimitriadi, make sure to not miss her trunk show tomorrow from 12-6pm in our boutique.
Sia will come herself from Cyprus and brings more stunning dresses to our boutique. Enjoy her professional consultation and a glass of bubbly! As a special treat Sia offers a complimentary discount of 10% on Saturday only.
Judging by the lovely illustration by Jessia D. we are not the only ones who didn’t fully cure their royal wedding fever just yet…
Have a great weekend,
Wolf & Badger x
