Clare Hynes Jewellery

I was born and raised in the UK but a love of travel and adventure has taken me to South America, Australia, SE Asia, Ireland, China and now Manila, Philippines where I live with my husband and two children. Over the years I’ve gained influences from the different countries I’ve visited and lived as well as the many wonderful women I’ve met along the way which has helped me to develop and hone my skills, whilst continually evolving my designs. At the heart of my inspiration for this ‘Island Luxe’ collection is the beauty and creativity of The Philippines. Combining the spirit of tropical islands with my love of fashion I strive to create designs that embody the individuality of a well-traveled woman and jewellery that can transport you to sunnier climes! I’ve been hugely inspired by living in the Philippines, from the creative talent of the local artisans to the many social enterprises that have been set up here. This ultimately led me to explore ways of developing a more socially responsible approach within my business. With the help of GKonomics (a platform that brings together social entrepreneurs to work with underprivileged communities to create sustainable livelihoods.) I am extremely proud to say I am now working with a community of woman artisans in Tabloban, a city that became forever associated with the natural disaster of Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013. To help in creating a sustainable livelihood for these women I provide workshops to teach the women new skills in jewellery making. These women are then able to help produce my designs and are provided with a supplemental income that will help to improve their quality of life. In their own words they want “Tacloban to be known for more than just poverty and disaster. For the world to see our artistry and what we can offer”.
