Just close your eyes and imagine lying on a boat, with a glass of prosecco, overlooking the bay of Positano. Scattered terracotta coloured umbrellas, lemon trees in the distance and pastel coloured buildings that are more than photo worthy. This warmth fills your heart with how beautiful, how romantic this entire setting could be. It's the feeling of La Dolce Vita, translated as ‘The Sweet Life’. 

La Dolce Vita has become a symbol, an icon since the 1960’s when Federico Fellini directed his masterpiece, a movie that made its way around the world and is still remembered today as one of the best movies ever made - not to mention the impression it made in the fashion industry, still used as a huge source of inspiration for designers. 

Fashion in the 60s was eclectic, fun, daring and incredibly sexy. Think head scarves, bustiers, heart-shaped necklines, high-waisted Bermuda shorts and a nonchalance that only Anita Ekberg could trend set. 

Centuries forward, fashion has evolved, although there are always elements in today’s trends that recall the past. 

I am here to share with you a few of my favourite pieces from Wolf & Badger that accentuate the feeling of La Dolce Vita, bringing a little spice and Italianness to your wardrobe, because after all, we’re still not done with summer yet are we? 

The statement piece that I have selected is the silk, butter yellow Bardot dress by Valle & Vik. Yellow to symbolise radiancy and energy and the heart-shaped neckline adds a romantic, elegant aura. 

I have also selected a few high wasted items that accentuate the female figure, especially when it comes to Swimsuits. My favourite is this feminine, pastel coloured puffed short-sleeve one-piece by Qua Vino to be paired with a large brim straw hat Bridget Bardot style (like this one from Brunna.Co) and a timeless pair of cat eye sunglasses.

A summer evening variation for that candle lit dinner by the beach in Positano (I’m thinking Rada Bistrot?) would be coordinating a bustier with high-waisted trousers or Bermuda shorts. In this case I have selected an ivory number matched with a mint coloured bustier top by Shikanzy. Elegant, chic and sophisticated. To accessorise, slip on a pair of slingback heels, a bamboo handle bag and a pair of pearl earrings like these from Arms of Eve.
