Simple Wellbeing Tips to Help You Transition to Autumn with ebo

by Kirstie Garrett

Do you switch your skincare routine according to the season?

ebo is an Eco-Luxe natural skincare and wellbeing brand that produces Seasonal Facial Oils -Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer Face oils are specifically formulated, with 100% natural ingredients, known to help ease seasonal skin complaints because, put simply, you would not wear a winter coat in summer!

Autumn is a key transitional month between Summer and Winter and we instinctively change many elements of our lifestyle, to help us to adapt to the seasonal changes. We shelter more indoors as daylight hours become shorter, wear different clothing, eat different foods....

Now think about your skincare - What do you add in or take out from your daily routine to help avoid common Autumn complaints like dry patches, itching and irritation, flaking, dullness, redness and soreness?

Don't panic  - nature is here to help - ebo harnesses intelligent plant ingredients and is free from any synthetic ingredients that may be harmful to you and the planet.

ebo Autumn Facial Oil is all about maintaining collagen production and locking in moisture. A luxurious blend containing high grade rosemary oil, rich in phyto-nutrients that support healthy collagen development and baobab seed oil a 'hero ingredient' from the ancient African Baobab tree, which forms an emollient barrier, locking moisture in - so essential to keep Autumn skin supple, with a healthy, dewy glow.

We all know however, that beauty is more than skin deep, so by adding in some simple wellbeing practices to our everyday lives we can also support our skin functions and performance from within -

Why not give these tips a go?

Retain Moisture

Placing a bowl of water near radiators can help to offset their drying effect and minimise the impact on your skin. It sounds so simple, but is so effective that even the National Eczema Society recommend this practice. Equally, it’s important not to sit too close to a heat source - this can encourage broken capillaries and to ensure instead that the whole room is warm, supplementing this with additional clothing or blankets as required.

Keep Hydrated

You may struggle to keep up your water intake in colder weather - reaching for hot caffeinated drinks instead which are also de-hydrating for the skin. Switching your first drink of the day to a simple mug of warm water with a slice of lemon can help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body.

Think about this...during sleep you typically haven't been drinking for 8 hours - so giving the body adequate water when you first wake up is a great way to get your body and your mind going.

Lemon also provides a natural flush. The liver is extremely active during sleep - this is the body’s time to restore and regenerate. Drinking enough water, especially in the morning, helps make sure that the body can perform these jobs most effectively. There is even some evidence that lemon juice can help stimulate proper stomach acid production and bile production. It also contains vitamin C which is needed for collagen production for smooth, healthy skin. A great little daily wellbeing step with big results!

Establish a healthy sleep pattern

Regulate your sleep pattern to help adjust to the change in daylight hours and avoid Seasonal Affective Disorder that so many of us dread with the shorter days.

A sleep routine that includes seven to nine hours of deep sleep for the average adult can really help improve the look of your skin, not least because your body naturally produces collagen whilst you slumber. Collagen literally is the cornerstone of healthy skin - it acts as the cement holding the structure of your skin firmly in place!

Turn off 'blue light' (screens) an hour before bed, avoid caffeine and alcohol and sip on a soothing chamomile, mint or rose tea.

Always cleanse your skin, even if you are working from home and not wearing makeup.

Take time out to breathe

Nobody feels pretty when they are stressed...and these are stressful times.

Taking just a moment out of the madness, to connect with how we are feeling and lose the frown lines to feelings of calm will take years off!

On a physiological note, practicing a focussed breathing technique to connect with yourself and bring yourself back into the moment will increased oxygen intake too- most of us only shallow breathe for much of the day!

Try this simple 4-7-8 breathing system: Find a comfy position where you won't be disturbed.

Sharply inhale for the count of 7

Hold your breath for the count of 7

Exhale slowly through your mouth for the count of 8

Repeat 4-5 times

This is a great anxiety buster to have in your tool kit to use anytime throughout the day when you feel anxiety rising.

Add a slick of the ebo Serenity rollerball- a beautiful blend of chamomile, bergamot, geranium and lavender- clinically proven to aid relaxation- to enhance your wind down and switch off routine. This will help to lower your heart rate, reduce anxiety and leave the worries of the day behind.
