'Astrakhan' Fringed Silk Twill Scarf

Online Exclusive

£160

Limited stock available
Monochrome scarf in Italian silk twill, featuring a Persian lamb fur drawing allover print.
This scarf combines a classic easy-to-wear format with a playful ‘eyelash’ fringe. The deep colour of the print goes through the beautiful twill fabric and is almost identical on both sides of the scarf.

The artwork is based on a pen and ink drawing of 'Astrakhan' Persian lamb fur. The pattern is rather mesmerising and 3D looking, but the scale and monochrome colour of the allover print give it a minimal, textural look.

The scarf is printed in the UK onto 100% Italian silk twill, a classic scarf fabric with a subtle sheen. It has a satisfying weight and drapes beautifully, and the artwork shows exceptionally well on this fabric. Silk is a naturally sturdy material, and in this quality a scarf will last.
Dry clean
The scarf can be steamed to refresh, smooth creases and purify, it does not need to be cleaned often

Meet The Designer

ARLETTE ESS is a luxury accessories label based on artworks by founder and owner Arlette, a visual artist specialising in ink drawing. All the scarf designs are based on originals of monochrome indian ink artworks. The drawings have an emphasis on texture, which translate into intricate, refined prints with an understated elegance. The label started with her signature fur prints. Arlette often uses animals as subjects, but is interested in the meanings we project into them. Therefore the content of her collections draws from the collective cultural history, a part of our identity we share through image and myth. Her scarves are what she calls ‘honest luxury' products, without any compromise on the material quality or the production process. The choice of manufacturing and quality follows the ‘buy less, buy better’ ethos, so a silk scarf will look and feel great for a lifetime.
