We all love a traditional afternoon tea, but if you fancy a more creative twist on the British classic then the Knightsbridge hotel The Berkeley is the place to go.
Their Pret-A-Portea afternoon tea selection of cakes and biscuits changes each season depending on the fashion catwalk trends. Then menu includes a handbag shaped card explaining their inspiration.
The afternoon tea also includes a selection of rolls and sandwiches and savoury appetizers such as ham and cheese filo pie, crab salad cone and goats cheese mousse.
The spring/summer 2014 treats collection includes: A Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spike Heel chocolate biscuit with fresh turquoise icing and the signature heel, a Karla Colletto red swimsuit presented in the form a lemon biscuit and a chocolate pecan moelleux transformed into the Miu Miu exotic skin tote bag.
Other designers whose pieces got the afternoon tea treatment include Victoria Beckham, Oscar De La Renta, Alberta Ferretti, Dsquared, Simon Rocha and Emilia Wickstead.
With the main focus being on the presentation, cynics would worry that the taste and standard can’t match the pretty exterior; but rest assured the flavours and food are just as creative as the concept.
The cakes, biscuits and sandwiches are all replenished so you get a chance to try everything even more than once. At the end of the afternoon tea fashion experience you get gifted a small paper handbag with a selection of the cakes and biscuits to take home with you.
With an elegant dress code and an art deco interior, The Berkeley’s Fashionistas Afternoon Tea is the perfect treat for any fashion lover.
