Style notes

The Love Bugs is a cushion about bugs, in love. Great big cuddly bugs, holding hands. This is what bugs get up to when we're not looking, making heart shapes around the object of their affection. At least that's what I think it means, hold on while I ask Libby who designed it. Ah. Nope, doesn't mean that at all, it's just a bunch of random bugs, moths mostly, making a heart shape with their wings because she wants them to. Libby informs me that insects are not known for displays of affection or passion, which is news to me, sexy like a slug, that's a saying, and beetlemania, that's a thing and what about ants in your pants? I prefer to think that this cushion perfectly captures a little private assignation, a bug hug, a fleeting, tender moment of insect adoration. Love the bug you're with.

Sustainability guarantees

Is your collection made exclusively in your studio or by an artisan collective of fewer than 10 people? There should be a focus on preserving artisanal production methods and skilled workers in order to qualify.

Not Pretty

Not Pretty is Libby and Richard Baker, a wishful collaboration where Libby does most of the work and Richard points out that fuchsia might have a ‘W’ in it. It's a bit like the way Richard thinks he does as much housework as Libby because he occasionally dries the already dry breakfast dishes while she's at the supermarket on her way back from dropping the kids off at school and before she makes a three-fish pie while doing the hoovering. In other words Not Pretty is mostly Libby, despite the fact that she is pretty, rather than Richard, who is not.
