5 Minutes With...AENEA

AENEA is a new jewellery house devoted to the celebration of life and love, offering works of rare value and appeal.  Costan Eghiazarian founded the brand two years ago following in his fathers goldsmith footsteps, believing that jewellery enriches the joys of life and love and decided it was time to help others discover the enjoyment. We spoke to Costan to get a glimpse inside the brand...

What was the inspiration behind your latest collection?

With the Facette collection I wanted to create something that was stylish and offers a sense of fun for jewellery devotees. The setting of each piece is configured like the distinctive outline of square-cut gems, but made of gold, rather than stone. It’s as if a master goldsmith is showing off to his gem-cutter friend: ‘See, I can do it too’. 

How would you describe your customer base?

My customers are fine jewellery connoisseurs and jewellery lovers of all ages, who are searching for freshly designed high-end jewellery with outstanding quality.

What are the morals you run your brand by?

We always try to maintain the highest quality in everything that we do and have a sense of mutual trust with our customers.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

"Do not set your expectations too high, as it will prevent you beeing disappointed or frustrated" by my grandfather. 

What have been the highest and lowest points on your journey so far?

The highest point has to be the opening of our first AENEA Atelier in Salzburg this summer, and the lowest point would have to be when I thought I lost a very exclusive jewellery piece in a hotel room.

Do you ever struggle to stay inspired?

I am glad that I can say I haven't had any problems with inspiration up until this point. I am lucky that I get to travel a lot, meeting different people around the globe, which keeps me inspired. Inspiration happens at any moment, you just need to be open to it.

Where is your go-to meeting spot?

In Salzburg it is my beloved shop, and in Vienna it is one of the old historical coffee shops.

Is there anyone you would love to see wearing your designs?

Robert Downey Junior wearing our Bang Bang Cufflinks. 

Do you have a mentor?

My father is a great help and mentor providing over 50 years of goldsmith experience.

What apps keep you sane?

No time for apps – I am a father of twins : -)

If you could only wear one piece from your collection, what would it be and why?

If I was a girl I would wear the City Ring London – as I am a man it would have to be the Bang Bang cufflinks. They are two in one. Cufflinks and communication pieces.

What’s the biggest style mistake you’ve ever made?

I love making style mistakes on purpose!

Is there another designer whose work you particularly admire?

Issey Myake 

What drew you to Wolf & Badger?

A friend of mine told me about it …and here we are. I love the concept, the location and the team.

Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

AENEA Jewellery is going to be a well known international boutique jewellery house famous for its outstanding quality and design.

Constan and the AENEA team are hosting two events in our store next week, join them for an evening of cocktails on Thursday 22nd October, and to meet the designer on Friday 23rd.
