The 2CV was supposed to replace the French farmer’s horse-drawn carriage. It should have room to carry a passenger and some produce to market, and it should be tall enough to allow the farmer to wear a hat when he drove to Sunday mass. And so it was. Launched in 1949 with only 29 horsepower, it will drive across a freshly ploughed field with a crate of eggs with no damage to either the car or the eggs.
The posters are printed in Denmark on Swedish eco-friendly paper 170gr. MultiArt Matt. The A5 card is 350 gr. Silkmat. The price is without frame.

Meet The Designer

New York’s legendary Chrysler building, the characteristic Vasabro bridge in Stockholm or Arne Jacobsen’s iconic town hall bell tower in Aarhus. ViSSEVASSE portrays the distinctive landmarks of cities and countries in a subtle palette with a Nordic expression that leaves out all superfluous features while preserving the mood of recognisability, history and art deco inspiration.

ViSSEVASSE was founded in 2013 and launched Langebro as the first city poster. With its references to 1930s poster artists and the mint/turquoise colors of the era, it set the tone for the upcoming collection of posters featuring landmarks from Danish and European cities.

‘We see the posters striking a nostalgic chord with the audience, as they are reminded of the summer holidays of their childhood when they see the poster of the caravan in the Danish landscape – or of the skiing holiday in Norway when they see our interpretation of the snow-covered mountains,’ says Karsten Noel.

Dorthe Mathiesen always visits the selected places with her camera to get the perspective, the angle and the visual first-hand impressions in place before returning to the studio to draw the posters, layer by layer. The entire process, from the original idea to the finished result, is often enriched by informative and inspiring stories about places that carry special meaning to people. ViSSEVASSE communicates personally with the users in social media, where people generously share their memories. This serves as a source of inspiration for Dorthe Mathiesen when she draws.

’Many have encouraged me to make a poster from their city or country, and some people have written to tell me that I misspelled the abbreviated names of the cities. But there is a graphic point to it. The abbreviations are about visual balance and a mental gimmick – you think you’re reading something else, because you’re used to seeing the name of the city spelled like that,’ Dorthe Mathiesen explains.
