Mariam Andrawiss is the creative director and founder of Maro. Mariam has lived in London for over 15 years and has nurtured a life-long passion for style, art and beauty. She designs exquisite and unique jewelry for equally exquisite and unique women. Born from a Egyptian father and French mother and brought up in the suburb of Paris, Mariam blends international influences into her jewelry. Her work combines traditional techniques with sleek, contemporary linear details, creating unique compositions. Her creations are best characterised as timeless, elegant and easy to wear. Lightness, simplicity, tinkle and sparkle are essential elements Mariam brings into her pieces. She has trained at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and is an Alumni of the Goldsmiths’ Centre. Prior to jewelry design, Mariam has trained as a scientist, and holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Her fascination for the beauty of nature and her scientific background gave Mariam a strong aesthetic sense and a natural ease and interest in understanding and exploring the various technical and delicate aspects involved in jewelry design and making. Maro’s pieces are all handmade in Mariam’s North London based studio, using ethically sourced material. Maro’s collections all have their own signature design, and unmistakably convey a sense of ancient heritage that you will treasure forever and pass on to your loved ones.
