The trendy hats by Mama Tierra are made by indigenous men in Colombia using the Iraka Palm. The symbols depicted on the braided hats represent the Wayuu spiritual wisdom. They need up to eight hours to produce a single hat. The Wayuu use a diagonal braid technique that makes each hat unique. Mama Tierra has turned this traditional headwear into a casual fashion accessory. A high-quality hat with a pattern also on the inside! Each hat takes eight hours to be created with a diagonal weaving technique. Water proof paint.
There aren't any reviews for this designer's collection yet either.

This hat is very flexible; it can be bent into the desired shape by simply folding the brim up or down. Our Guajiro hat is the ideal companion at festivals or during holidays, because it can be easily put in your suitcase!
Transport tip: simply stuff the inside of the hat with clothes.
Crown height is 12 cm and brim width is 8 cm. To measure your head circumference, take a sewing measuring tape or a string, and wrap it around your head just above the ears. Please stick your finger under the tape so there is a little room and there you have your hat size! If you fall between measurements go for the next size up.

Meet The Designer
Mama Tierra combines indigenous heritage with western trends, seasonal colors and sustainable materials. The result are high-quality accessories designed by world-class designers such as Patrizia Stalder, Coral Hernandez and Vittoria Amber. All pieces are lovingly hand-made by Wayuu indigenous peoples in Colombia and Venezuela.
Mama Tierra is a Swiss non-profit organization (NPO) that has been supporting indigenous peoples since 2014 in their quest for self-determination, human rights and environmental protection. The NPO offers existence-saving wages and financial independence for indigenous women. The focus is on women because they ensure the well-being of the family, securing its income and educating the children. Women are the strongest link in many indigenous societies, but this is particularly true in the Wayuu culture as they have a matrilineal kinship structure.
