Sustainability Guarantees

Icon for Low-Impact

All packaging in this collection is recyclable, recycled and free from petroleum based plastics.

Icon for Happy World

This collection has been produced on a small scale, with environmentally sensitive production methods; the constituent materials have been sourced sustainably, and conserve biodiversity.

Icon for Happy Worker

Workers are paid a living wage; no child labour or human trafficking is involved in the production of the collection; the factory is compliant with all local environmental regulations.

Unisex shirt with straight slim fit, soft collar and soft cuffs, cut from luscious 100% silk satin. Thick mother-of-pearl buttons with three holes.

It features the ‘Koi II’ print which is based on an original ink painting, here on a gold brown background.
The soft fabric drapes itself around the body, the sensation of silk satin on bare skin is inimitable.

The fabric is printed in UK and the shirt is made to perfection in the EU (Czech Republic).

This shirt is slightly tailored in the waist, but for an unisex fit. For curvier women who prefer to have tops with a more tailored waist, I recommend bringing the shirt to an alterations place and having it taken in after doing a fitting on your body, this way it will be customised to your body shape and probably fit much better than a ready made tailored style.

A note about sustainability: I always choose the best possible materials to create a beautiful and long-lasting product, intended to serve you well and bring joy for many years. ‘Sustainable’ has become a very trendy tag for many brands, but the most sustainable thing one can do is to buy less and buy better. It also helps to buy from transparent supply chains in countries where environmental protections and workers rights are in place. Personally I would have liked to use organic cotton for these shirts, but could not find a similar quality. I therefore chose this fine conventional cotton, prioritising the longevity of the product.

Meet The Designer

Arlette is a visual artist specialising in ink drawing. She started her design career at Alexander McQueen and is now one of the artists contributing to the iconic scarves collections by Hermès Paris. ARLETTE ESS is her own luxury accessories label. All the scarf designs are based on originals of indian ink artworks. The drawings have an emphasis on texture, which translate into intricate, refined prints with an understated elegance. The label started with her signature fur prints. Arlette often uses animals as subjects, but is interested in the stories and meanings we project into them.
