Real Leather – Full Grain Calf Leather
Our premium full grain comes from the certified Italian tannery, Conceria Alaska. We have chosen a Gold standard calf leather which is one of the highest grade leathers used in footwear. It is between 0.8 and 1.0mm in thickness and is firm & smooth to the hand, with a semi polished aniline finish. It provides extreme comfort, durability and an elegant look for our timeless sneakers.
Nubuck Leather – Calf Leather
Our Nubuck is top-grain calfleather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain (out)side, to give a slight nap of short protein fibres, producing a velvet-like surface. It is resistant to wear, and may be white or coloured. Ours is stamped to provide an extra lush finish. Nubuck is similar to suede, but is created from the outer side of a hide, giving it more strength and thickness and a fine grain. It is generally more expensive than suede, and must be coloured or dyed to cover up the sanding and stamping process. Nubuck characteristics are similar to aniline leather. It is soft to the touch, scratches easily, and water drops darken it temporarily (it dries to its original colour). Our Nubuck comes from the certified Italian Tannery Malaigia in the Marche region.
Care
Seek advise from an expert before attempting anything yourself.
Protect your shoe against water and dirt with a protective silicon free guard. Repeat this regularly to avoid having to clean your shoes. If you do have to clean them use a damp cloth to carefully remove dirt. Cleaning is an irreversible process and therefore, thorough consideration should be made before any such attempt.
Avoid contact with water / perfume / cleaning agent.

Meet The Designer
Crafted Society was formed by fashion industry veterans Martin Johnston and Lise Bonnet in 2017 with a goal to take the unknown makers of luxury goods out from the shadows and place them back firmly in the limelight. The duo have sourced some of Italy's finest family run ateliers to produce their exquisite leather sneakers, bags and small leather goods, denim, headwear and cashmere scarves and throws. Only through transparency do the last remaining master makers have a chance to find new apprentices to preserve their craft for future generations.
The 'Made in Italy' label is synonymous with quality and craftsmanship the world over. Yet unless a brand openly communicates its entire supply chain, how will you know if what is on the label is actually true?
Crafted Society's commitment towards transparency ensures every Italian artisan who crafts our products is acknowledged and remunerated fairly for their craft and expertise. We don't just label our products 'Made in Italy', we 100% prove they are, from the finished goods to the components to the raw materials.
Help us preserve a crafted society and demand transparency for a fair chain for all involved.
