Sustainability Guarantees

Icon for Happy Worker

Workers are paid a living wage; no child labour or human trafficking is involved in the production of the collection; the factory is compliant with all local environmental regulations.

Icon for Artisan

This collection is entirely made in the designer’s studio and/or by an artisan collective of fewer than 10 people.

Icon for Happy World

This collection has been produced on a small scale, with environmentally sensitive production methods; the constituent materials have been sourced sustainably, and conserve biodiversity.

Handmade in the Alistair R studio, the Bourn collection is made using hand carved flat oval shaped stones which are set into classic walled settings with an A-shaped fixed toggle link. The special gold plate on silver link is cast with no moving parts and is designed to be easy to put on and sit comfortably and properly aligned on the shirt cuff all day. Alistair R gold on silver cufflinks are hallmarked with the 925 Sterling Silver and Alistair R makers marks.

Known for it’s creamy white iridescence, mother of pearl is taken from the shell of the pearl oyster and obtained from sustainable sources. It is enduring, elegant and very versatile to pair with outfits, especially black tie.

Cufflinks are shipped in an elegant cufflink box together with a gift envelope.
We advise using the supplied case for storage and transport. Stones should be treated as fragile objects as they can chip or even break if dropped on a hard surface.
Always protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, chemicals (including cosmetics, sun-screens, bleach, cleaning materials, etc)
Only clean jewellery with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Silver will tarnish gradually over time – a natural process. To remove light tarnishing use a soft lint-free cloth to gently buff the silver. Silver polish can be used very gently on the silver parts. Ensure that the stones are avoided as most semi-precious stones are porous and polish may penetrate the surface leaving permanent stains. Heavy tarnishing should only be dealt with by a professional jeweller.
The oval cufflink face measures 20mm x 7mm.

Meet The Designer

Alistair R is an independent premium jewelry workshop based in Northern Ireland.

Through our emphasis on simple, timeless design we handcraft uniquely beautiful pieces imbued with history. Every one of our designs is made by us and hallmarked in the UK and aims to capture the alchemy and unique character of our hand selected gem and semi precious stones.

Alistair Wright set up Alistair R in 2009. Inspired by a set of moonstone and gold cufflinks, a family heirloom of timeless quality, and a lifelong interest in gemstones and geology, Alistair left the corporate world behind to train in stone carving and goldsmithing, launching initially with a range of cufflinks. It was not long before he was asked to incorporate his designs into necklaces and other jewelry, and so the range has grown, always reflecting our passion for natural materials and the desire for simple, striking and uncluttered design.

Using ethically sourced rough stone alongside stone we find in the wild we carve simple forms to show the beauty of the natural material. All of our jewelry is put together by hand and finished in our Northern Irish workshop.
