Our Pilgrim poster was inspired by a series of one off mono prints created using wooden blocks.
Part of a limited, 50 edition run, each has been hand screen printed in water based pigments onto A2 G.F Smith paper stock.
We have hand signed and numbered each edition.
We printed the posters in our Woolwich studio which is located right on the banks of the river Thames, on the site of old dockyards. In the summer the sunlight reflects off the river surface and onto our walls and ceiling ...so we constantly feel surrounded by water.
The screen was exposed using light sensitive emulsion and we then push the pigment through the mesh using a rubber squeegee to create each image. Its a very traditional way of creating a repeatable piece of artwork and has a tactile, idiosyncratic quality.
For 'Fruit de mer' we print violet ice-cream paper in bright ultramarine blue.
We hope that our Pilgrim posters offer a lingering taste of summer! Available exclusively online and in store at Wolf & Badger for London Design Festival.
Also if there is any issue, they deal with it efficiently, and promptly, very impressive
Lay it out, image side up, on a flat surface. With a sheet of smooth paper still covering the print's image, place a few, smooth, flat, heavy objects (such as books) on the ends and middle of the print. Let it sit for a couple more hours or overnight.

Meet The Designer
Stoff Studios are a design duo, consisting of Carys Briggs, a textile designer who trained at both the Royal College of Art and Central St Martins, and Andrew Mason, a furniture maker who studied Sculpture at Camberwell College. We work across two studios: one in south Bermondsey and the other in a Victorian warehouse nearby on Surrey Canal Road. It’s a part of London that has a wealth of resources and a great community of makers.
Working from our studio spaces in South East London, we use traditional methods to create refined, intimate collections of textiles and furniture. We take a humble approach to our practice, drawing inspiration from the materials that we work with; the joy of dyes applied to fabric or the clarity brought about by a well placed joint. Often concentrating on either a single piece or a small batch of works we produce objects with a tactile nature, designed to work together in the home to create plains of color and texture.
The fabric pieces are inspired by gestural mark making and mono printing techniques and their soft lines are reflected in the fluid, sculptural forms of our furniture.
We aim to produce truly collaborative collections, utilising our two fields of knowledge to create a more studied, detailed response to our initial inspirations, taking account of how our finished pieces, and the materials they are made from, exist within a wider context.
