1. use a ph-neutral liquid detergent: choose a gentle detergent designed for delicate fabrics to avoid damaging the silk fibers.
2. use a mesh laundry bag: always place your silk items in a mesh laundry bag to protect them during washing, reducing friction and keeping the silk fibers intact.
3. machine wash on delicate: wash your silk at 30°c (86°f) on a delicate cycle to preserve the fabric's softness and quality.
4. do not bleach: avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the silk fibers.
5. do not tumble dry: air dry your silk flat in the shade, as tumble drying can cause shrinkage and weaken the fabric.
6. iron on low heat: if ironing is necessary, use a low heat setting, either steam or dry. always place a cloth between the iron and the silk for protection.
7. dry clean: dry cleaning is safe for silk, but ensure that no trichloroethylene is used, as it can harm the fabric.
