4649.REC is an upcycling collection from Japanese streetwear brand Yoroshiku 4649 aiming to REcycle vintage family kimonos. Kimonos are garments of special occasion each carrying cultural significance.
During lockdown, founder/designer Yumi began re-purposing kimonos passed down in her family for generations. With the undoing of every stitch, she felt herself turning back the clock and strengthening ties to her family and heritage.
Lovingly crafted by Yumi, each piece is unique. In Japanese, 4649 (pronounced 'Yo ro shi ku') means “Nice to meet you”. Indeed, 4649.REC strives to connect with people, sharing this precious connection with you through every piece and making you a part of their story.
4649.REC gives back a percentage of proceeds to the mental health charity Mind.
