A Guide to Gold plated Sterling Silver -
Silver is a soft metal, therefore it can be cleaned gently with a cotton cloth. Polyester and coarse fabrics often contain synthetics that can cause tiny scratches on the surface of your fine sterling silver jewellery. Also, dirt from the previous cleaning can also scratch the surface.
It is recommended you do not use silver dips for removing oxidation as it will leave microscopic holes resulting in premature darkening. Use preventative care such as storing your jewellery in a closed box or plastic bag as silver will tarnish when exposed to air.
