B Corp Month: Spotlight On Materials

26th Mar '25

| By The Wolf & Badger Team

Explore alternative fabric options with longer lifetimes and a lower environmental impact.

Here at Wolf & Badger, we are incredibly aware that every choice we make in fashion has a ripple effect on our planet. Conventional fabrics, for example, often come with hidden costs: excessive water usage, chemical pollution, and significant waste.

But there’s a better way forward. At Wolf & Badger, we believe in transforming the fashion industry by prioritizing more durable fabrics and extending the life-cycle of products.

1

Organic Cotton

Take organic cotton, for example. According to the Organic Cotton Report, organic cotton also has a much lower global warming potential than conventional cotton, as the methods used in the production process generate significantly fewer emissions and utilise less energy. Grown without toxic, persistent pesticides, synthetic fertilizer, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), it promotes soil health and reduces water consumption—something we actively support through our partner brands.

Linen

Flax, the plant from which linen is produced, are resilient plants requiring minimal water and no synthetic fertilizers. When grown in its ideal environment, flax produces almost no waste, with its fibres and seeds used to produce textiles, oil, and other materials. Moreover, any root remnants on flax fields fertilise and clean the soil, improving its productivity for years to come. This makes linen an excellent and sustainable textile which many of the brands we work with incorporate into their collections.

4

Brand Spotlight: Ingmarson

Ingmarson is a brand firmly dedicated to eco-friendly production, from using ethically-sourced organic fabrics to utilising packaging made of 90% recycled material. The brand’s cotton garments are 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic while their wool is sourced directly from a spinner in Italy. During their production process, they recycle waste yarn into the knitting process or upcycle it to attach swing tags.

All of Ingmarson’s pieces are knitted and embroidered on-demand in London. With charming embroidered motifs, and fuss-free, lively designs, their garments are designed to outlast trends and become beloved, versatile wardrobe staples.

Fabric Innovation

Innovations like Piñatex, derived from pineapple leaves, and Bananatex, made from banana plants, repurpose agricultural waste into durable textiles. Even seaweed is being transformed into soft, breathable fabrics—materials you’ll find across our curated collections.

Such textiles originate from waste products - the pineapple industry, for example, produces tens of thousands of tons of leaves annually, all of which are discarded as waste and left to rot or burn. As Piñatex, the leaves are instead transformed into an alternative to genuine leather.

By supporting brands that use these fabrics, you’re not only reducing environmental impact but also backing ethical production practices and skilled artisans around the world.

At Wolf & Badger, we’re proud to champion independent brands that prioritise people, planet, and craftsmanship.

Embrace sustainable fabrics. Together, we can weave a more responsible and stylish future.
