Horoscope Deep Dive: All About Aries

by Wolf & Badger

Stella Andromena talks us through the common Aries traits as found in her book, 'Aries', published by Hardie Grant Publishing, available in our London store or via the Papersmiths website.

Aries Characteristics

The key words for those born under Aries are independent, pioneering and outgoing. Generally straightforward, sometimes to the point of bluntness, there is something child-like about Aries in their immediate enthusiasm and openness to new ideas and action. This is because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, representing beginnings and the birth of the new year.

The proverbial infant can take things rather literally and sometimes miss the nuance of irony so, in dealing with Aries, being direct often works best. As a fire sign, Aries types can often spark activity and motivation in others but, like fire, they need to be constantly refuelled both by new ideas and the support of others to actually get things done.

Initiating plans and inspiring others comes naturally to Aries, but having the patience to stick at something can sometimes be an issue. Working as part of a team can also be a problem, because Aries tend to believe they know better than everyone else – a belief which may not be accompanied by an ability to be diplomatic. They lean towards being self-oriented so being their own boss is often important, which can make Aries quite entrepreneurial, and they are more likely to stick at their own plans and ideas than anyone else’s. To get things done may mean getting others to do them, which means they are able to delegate well, although woe betide anyone who doesn’t deliver to Aries’ exacting standard.

Friendly and outgoing, Aries always wants to share what they find interesting with others, both at a one-to-one level or through social media networks. They can also be remarkably intuitive and shrewd about people, making it difficult to draw the wool over their eyes, and have a tendency to be attractively open and direct both in thought and speech. Playing their cards close to their chests or operating in secrecy isn’t a feature of the Aries approach, and while they seldom tell lies, those they do are likely to be white lies rather than gross deceptions: what you see is likely to be what you get.

The downside of an Aries can be a frankness that offends, an outspokenness that verges on the rude, a bossiness that can feel like bullying, a disregard for others’ finer feelings and a lack of the natural diplomacy that comes naturally to their opposite sign, Libra.

The Aries woman

The Aries woman tends to make a straightforward friend and lover: if she likes you, you’ll know it, but once a love affair is over, she will let you know that, too. Loyal but unsentimental, the Aries woman often counts ex-lovers among her friends as she doesn’t hold grudges and always values what she perceives to be the good qualities of others.

The Aries man

Like the Aries woman, the Aries man can be loyal to a fault, and if you are the one, then he’ll expect to be the same in your life. However, that old freedom bug can mean that a one-to-one commitment may not be the Aries man’s strongest suit until he’s 100 per cent sure of you – but when that happens you’ll know for sure, too.
