African Recycled Glass & Freshwater Pearl Beaded Necklace
By Shar Oke
Product Details
One of the ways recycled beads from Ghana are traditionally produced is by pounding recycled glass into fine powder. The powder is mixed with colored powder to achieve different colors and patterns. The powder is placed in a locally made clay oven fusing and transforming it into solid beads. While heated and still hot, a metal point is used to create holes. After drying, they are smoothed by rubbing washing on an abrasive surface, this helps to remove any imperfections.
Beads are in their natural form are imperfect as such, no two stones are alike which add to the character and the beauty of the stone.
