Elephant & Castle. Unrecognisable without the mammoth block of geometric slab flats and that quirky red elephant ushering locals into the dilapidated shopping centre, earmarked for demolition but somehow shambled on!

Alexander Fleming House is not the usual grey and brown 'in your face' Brutalism. It is one of Erno Goldfinger's masterpieces, touted as the ugliest buildings in London. It was then granted a Grade 2 listing in 2013.

I wanted to capture in this print, the image that comes to my mind when I close my eyes and think of Elephant & Castle. It is not dull and soulless like people describe it, but rather bright. A white-blue chessboard and that little red elephant with a castle on his back! It is a rather odd but memorable statue.
